North Carolina workers may fear being injured on the job

It is not unlikely that most North Carolina workers hope to make it through their workdays unscathed. Unfortunately, being injured on the job is a possibility for the majority of individuals in a multitude of professions. When a work-related accident takes place, an employee could be severely injured and could face difficulties for the rest of his or her life. As a result, that individual may wish to seek workers' compensation benefits.

It was recently reported that an accident in another state has resulted in multiple fines for a company. Apparently, a worker was attempting to clean a piece of machinery at a food processing company when an accident occurred. While cleaning in and around the machine, the worker's hand was amputated. Details on the accident were not given in the report.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration began their investigation last year when the incident took place. They recently concluded the investigation, and, as a result, the processing company was cited for 12 violations, including not having emergency stop capabilities and not having machine guards. These citations have resulted in thousands of dollars in fines for the company.

If the worker who was injured on the job has not done so already, he may wish to look into information on workers' compensation. An injury as severe as the one suffered in this incident will undoubtedly have lifelong effects. Similarly, if North Carolina residents have faced serious injury while working, they may also wish to determine whether they could potentially be entitled to workers' compensation benefits for damages resulting from a workplace accident.
