North Carolina construction accident leads to man's death

It is not unusual for construction workers to perform their duties surrounded by potential hazards. Working with machinery, at high levels or in a multitude of other environments could lead to a construction accident. If a worker is injured or killed in such an event, an investigation will likely take place, and the family of the victim may want to find out more about workers' compensation.

One family in North Carolina may be taking such action after a recent accident claimed the life of one worker. Reports indicated that the worker was a 42-year-old man who had been working on a roof. While installing the roof, the man fell off the building and hit the ground 40 feet below. There were other workers at the site, but apparently no one else was injured.

The worker was transported from the scene to an area hospital, but he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. The North Carolina Department of Labor is currently looking into the accident. The investigation will determine whether safety precautions, such as having guardrails or other fall protection, were in place. If violations are found, the company for which the man worked could face citations.

Because this construction accident resulted in the death of a worker, the man's family may have questions about workers' compensation. These benefits could potentially help the family with financial struggles pertaining to the loss of income and other issues. If they would like to determine whether they may qualify for workers' comp on behalf of the deceased worker, they may want to consult with an experienced attorney.
