Serious workplace injuries could affect North Carolina workers

Incidents of worker injury can be complicated matters for everyone involved. There will likely be investigations into how the workplace injuries occurred; injured workers may face physical and financial losses, and the workplace operation itself could be hindered considerably. Of course, the most important aspect of any accident is the well-being of the injured parties, and when workers are injured on the job, they may be entitled to workers' compensation.

North Carolina residents may be interested in such a situation that recently took place in another state. Reports indicated that two workers were injured while working on a bridge. Apparently, a bridge support that was 150 feet long and weighed more than 60,000 pounds fell while being supported by two cranes. One end of the beam somehow became dislodged from one of the cranes, causing the incident.

A 26-year-old individual was reported as suffering serious trauma as a result of the incident. He was transported from the scene to an area hospital and considered to be in critical condition. A second worker was also injured and taken to the hospital. It was noted that his injured affected his elbow. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is conducting an investigation, and work on the bridge has been halted for the time being.

Due to the workplace injuries these men suffered, it is likely that they could be entitled to workers' compensation. If North Carolina workers have found themselves in similar situations and have suffered serious injuries on the job, they may wish to look into such benefits themselves. Information on workers' compensation could help them determine how to go about potentially obtaining those benefits.
