Ambulance crash results in 2 workers being injured on the job

The possibility of suffering injuries is a risk many people face while carrying out their work-related duties. Some of the risks may be obvious, and workers can take steps to lessen the chances of suffering harm because of those risks. Unfortunately, in some cases, accidents and being injured on the job cannot be avoided.

It was recently reported that two North Carolina emergency medical services workers suffered injuries while on duty. Reports stated that the two workers were in an ambulance on the way to an emergency call when they were involved in a car accident. The driver of a car was leaving a parking lot when it pulled out in front of the ambulance. As a result, the two vehicles collided, and the car ended up in a ditch off the roadway.

The driver was apparently the only person inside the car at the time of the incident, and that person suffered serious injuries. Both EMS workers were also injured, but details regarding their injuries were not given in the report. All three individuals were taken from the scene to the hospital in order to receive treatment.

Being injured on the job can have a domino effect in which other hardships stem from the injuries. In particular, these North Carolina workers may face financial struggles relating to the medical treatment they receive and any wages they may lose due to missing work as they recover. Fortunately, they may be able to qualify for workers' compensation, which could help them cover medical bills, lost wages and other financial damages resulting from the work-related accident.
