Construction accident leaves worker with serious injuries

Working in the construction industry is often a rewarding job. Of course, working in this industry also comes with substantial risks, and it is not common for a construction accident to lead to serious injuries. Unfortunately, these injuries could result in a worker needing substantial time to recover.

North Carolina readers may be interested in an accident that recently took place in another state. Reports indicated that a man was working with a team to complete a construction task that involved hoisting a railing onto a ship. A crane was being utilized during this endeavor, and for some reason, a cable snapped, which resulted in a support strap failing and injuring the man. The man was believed to be in his 40s.

Emergency crews came to the scene and used a rescue basket to lower the victim from the ship. The report indicated that the man had a bandage on his head, but it was unclear what exact injuries he may have suffered. The man was reportedly considered a Level 2 trauma, meaning that he had serious but not critical injuries. No one else suffered injuries in the incident.

Any time a construction accident leads to injuries, it is important that the victim or victims receive medical attention. It is common for injuries to be severe, and immediate treatment may prevent further harm. Of course, receiving medical care also means having medical expenses, and these bills can often take a toll on injured parties. Fortunately, workers' compensation may be able to help injured North Carolina residents address these bills and other allowable financial hardships stemming from the work-related accident.
