After work-related injury, workers’ comp may provide assistance

Dealing with injuries in any capacity can often prove difficult. When a North Carolina resident suffers injuries while on the job, the situation may prove even more complicated to address. Various steps may be needed if the individual hopes to obtain workers’ compensation, but the process often seems worth the effort as the benefits offer financial assistance after a work-related injury.

One man in another state may be looking into the workers’ comp application process after a recent accident. Reports stated that the man was working as part of a crew installing sewer lines when he stepped out of a retaining wall. The trench was reported as being 35 feet deep, and it began to collapse around the man. Two other workers were able to pull the man back to safety. It was noted that the man did not become trapped.

The situation did result in the man suffering back and hip injuries. Firefighters came to the scene and were able to lift the man out of the trench. He was then taken to an area hospital. The report also stated that the man’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.

No matter the circumstances under which it occurs, suffering a work-related injury can be a frightening experience. If North Carolina workers become seriously injured on the job due to a trench collapse or other event, they may have cause to pursue workers’ compensation benefits. Because many individuals may lack needed information regarding this type of compensation, interested parties may wish to speak with experienced attorneys for assistance with the process.
