Workers’ compensation need may arise after unexpected work events

An unexpected accident could happen to anyone at anytime, including North Carolina residents. The outcomes of such an event could vary depending on the circumstances, and the personal impacts could also range. For instance, if a person is injured in a car accident, he or she may face different challenges than a worker injured in a construction accident. One benefit that the individual in the latter scenario may see is the potential for workers’ compensation.

One man in another state may be hoping to gain this type of benefit after recently being injured on the job. Reports stated that the man was working as part of a construction crew as they attempted to change a road sign on an expressway at around 9 a.m. While working on their duties, the sign fell.

It was unclear what may have caused the sign to fall, and it was also uncertain whether the sign fell on the worker, struck him or resulted in some other outcome. Nonetheless, he was injured in the incident and transported to an area hospital. The extent of his injuries was not described in the report, but it was mentioned that they were not considered life-threatening.

It is unlikely that the man involved in this incident expected to suffer injuries on the job. Many North Carolina workers may find themselves similarly caught off guard by work-related incidents that result in their suffering serious injuries. Because of the unexpected nature of such events, it can be difficult to plan ahead for the financial challenges that could result. However, obtaining information on workers’ compensation from reliable legal resources could prove useful.
