Workplace injuries prove fatal after mechanic accident

Suffering injuries at work can range from being a minor inconvenience to life-threatening or fatal. In the latter cases, North Carolina families who were expecting their loved ones to come home from work as they always do may instead learn devastating news that their family members have suffered fatal workplace injuries. Regrettably, these incidents can have far-reaching effects for surviving families.

A recent report stated that a serious workplace accident took place in another state. The event occurred at a tire center and mechanic establishment and involved a 55-year-old worker and a 29-year-old worker. The two men were working on a bus when a jack holding up the bus failed. As a result, the bus fell and crushed the two men.

The two workers were taken to a medical center for treatment, but the older man succumbed to the injuries he suffered. The younger worker was considered to be in critical condition at the time of the report. Their employer issued a statement indicating that they were saddened by the event and that they intended to fully cooperate with the investigation into the accident.

In cases where any workplace injuries result, it is wise for individuals to gain information on workers’ compensation. Injured workers may qualify for this type of financial assistance. Even in the event of a fatality, surviving family members may qualify for benefits. Of course, it can be confusing and complicated to understand how to apply for workers’ comp and may be even more difficult while grieving. North Carolina residents facing this type of hardship may wish to consult with knowledgeable attorneys for help.
