Worker killed, another injured on the job after fall

Falls continue to be among the most prevalent causes of injuries on construction sites. Though many individuals undoubtedly take precautions in hopes to avoid this type of incident, numerous workers still wind up injured on the job because of falls. Unfortunately, many of these events also prove fatal.

North Carolina readers may be interested in an accident that occurred in another state and involved two construction workers. According to reports, the two men were working on constructing a chicken processing plant and were using some kind of lift in order to work at height. For unknown reasons, the two men fell approximately 40 feet from the lift basket. One of the men had to be rescued by emergency crews from a high position because he became trapped after falling.

The worker who was trapped was taken to a medical center by helicopter after being rescued. He was reported as being 26 years old and was considered to be in serious condition at the time of the report. The other worker was reported as being 56 years old, and he suffered fatal injuries as a result of the fall. No further details regarding how the accident occurred were given, but it was noted that the incident was under investigation.
